Pilot Plant
Pilot plants that test the process on site water before the main plant is designed

Process
- Raw
- In process
- Product
- Brine & waste
01Feed tank
Receives the site raw water and feeds it steadily to the pilot plant. It stands outside the container and is connected by a feed line.
Main components
- Feed tank
- Feed line
- Level gauge
02Pretreatment (UF)
UF membranes of the same type as the full-scale plant remove suspended solids and colloids before the test process. Changes in operating pressure and backwash intervals are recorded for the pretreatment design of the main plant.
Main components
- UF modules
- Backwash piping
- Automatic valves
03Test process (RO, NF, PRO, etc.)
The core stage for verifying the process combination and operating conditions on the customer's raw water. Membrane processes such as RO, NF and pressure-retarded osmosis (PRO) are fitted to suit the purpose, and product quality, recovery and fouling behaviour are tested. The results set the process configuration, membrane count and operating conditions of the main plant.
Main components
- Pressure vessels
- Membrane elements (RO, NF, PRO)
- High-pressure pump
- Pressure and flow instruments
04Product and brine outlet
Permeate and concentrate each pass a flow meter and quality analysers before leaving the container. The readings are kept as test records.
Main components
- Permeate line
- Concentrate line
- Flow meters
- Water quality analysers
05Container and control panel
A mobile unit for verifying the process combination and operating conditions on the customer's raw water. All equipment is housed in one container for easy transport and site installation, and the control panel runs the pumps and valves and logs the operating data.
Main components
- Container
- Control panel
- Instruments
- Lighting and ventilation

A pilot plant is a small plant that tests the process on site water before the main plant is designed. The process and capacity of the main plant are decided from the test results.
The SWRO-PRO pilot plant delivered to GS E&C (2014 and 2016, 216 m³/day) consists of UF, SWRO and PRO (pressure-retarded osmosis). We have also built the CNT plant for Hyundai E&C (2014, 210 m³/day), an SWRO pilot plant for Hanwha E&C (2017, 120 m³/day) and a UF/RO pilot plant for DTRI in Saudi Arabia (Doosan Heavy Industries, 2016, 100 m³/day).
